"Don't Believe These Duct Cleaning Myths"

Myth #1

Reusable Filters Work for a Lifetime

Many believe that a reusable filter can last forever, but that’s NOT true. Washable filters only last a handful of uses before they start failing to trap particles. Over time, these filters lose their effectiveness, allowing dust and debris to circulate in your air. Also, reusable filters can restrict airflow in the ductwork, overworking your HVAC system and leading to costly repairs.

Myth #2

You Need to Clean Your Ducts Every Year

Other Duct Cleaning companies may try to convince you that you need to have your ducts cleaned every year… but we are going to let you in on a little secret. Annual duct cleaning isn’t always necessary. Following industry standards, a high-quality duct cleaning can last three to five years, provided your home has a normal level of dust and contaminants. If you have pets or smoke indoors, you may need cleaning more frequently, but annual cleaning is often excessive if the initial cleaning is done thoroughly!

Myth #3

Cheap Companies Do The Same Job

They do not. In duct cleaning, as in many services, you often get what you pay for. Low-cost providers may cut corners or lack proper equipment, which can result in an ineffective cleaning. We suggest that if you are going to get a job done, you might as well pay what it costs to do it properly. Just like in any other industry cheaper is not always better.

Myth #4

Duct Cleaning Doesn't change Air Quality

Some think that duct cleaning doesn’t affect air quality, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Dirty ducts can harbor allergens, mold, and dust mites, which circulate throughout your home every time your HVAC runs. Clean ducts help reduce these particles, and having clean ducts will lead to healthier air quality almost immediately.

Myth #5

Duct Cleaning is Only for Older Homes

Many people assume that only older homes with outdated systems need duct cleaning, but I would like to say it clearly, ALL homes need duct cleaning eventually. Even new constructions or recently renovated homes accumulate dust and debris in ducts, especially if builders or contractors didn’t cover vents during the process. It has very little to do with the age of your home, and everything to do with the last time your ducts were cleaned.
